Patient Information
We strive to ensure that every patient receives the best care during each visit. Please read through the following sections for further information
On the Day of Surgery
On the day of your surgery, you will be asked to arrive several hours before the procedure. You would have been informed if you are having your procedure under local anaesthetic or general anaesthesia.
If you are having a general anaesthesia you need to be Nil by Mouth for ~ 6 hours before the procedure. You can bring some suggested items for more comfort. After a general anaesthesia, it is essential that you are picked up by someone afterwards to take you home (after day case procedures).
Expected Recovery Periods
Recovery periods after each surgery vary based on the severity of the injury and the required procedure and this will be discussed with you during your consultation. It is important that you take this into consideration when planning your time off work post surgery
Post Operative Follow Up
This will be arranged after your surgery and during these appointments suture removals and changes of dressing are carried out when necessary.
Post operative Rehabilitation (Physiotherapy/ Hand therapy)
Following most upper limb procedures, appropriate rehabilitation will be critical to ensure a good outcome. This will be arranged for you post operatively at a suitable location through the excellent team of physiotherapists and hand therapists that we work with.
