Biography

Mr Tavakkolizadeh studied medicine at the Royal London Hospital Medical School graduating in 1995. He completed his basic surgical training in the North East Thames before doing some plastic surgery and then worked at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in the Peripheral Nerve Injury Unit.

His Orthopaedic Registrar training was at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. He has completed two fellowships including a Sports Medicine and Upper Limb Surgery fellowship in Australia followed by a year of Upper Limb Surgery fellowship at King’s College Hospital. He took up the post of Consultant Orthopaedic and Upper Limb Surgeon at King’s College Hospital in 2008.

He provides a comprehensive Upper Limb Service including minimally invasive and arthroscopic shoulder, elbow and wrist surgery as well as treatment for all hand pathologies. He offers treatment for upper limb fractures and soft tissue sports injuries in conjunction with the appropriate rehabilitation through a team of skilled physiotherapists.

Mr Tavakkolizadeh is actively involved in research and teaching. He has numerous publications and is involved in the regional postgraduate training. He is an organiser and faculty member in several national educational and skills courses and participates regularly in GP and physio teaching programmes.

Biography

Mr Karuppaiah joined as a Consultant in King’s College Hospital, London, in 2014 following completion of his advance training in shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist surgeries. With this experience, he manages a wide range of orthopaedic conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist. His clinical expertise is comprehensive evaluation and management of sports injuries, arthritis, nerve and tendon problems in the upper limb. He also treats multiple injured patients, at King’s College Hospital, one of the busiest Major Trauma Centres in the UK and also provides tertiary referral service for complex upper-limb conditions.

Mr. Karuppaiah had his orthopaedic training in two of the leading institutes in the world, namely King’s College Hospital, London and Ganga Hospital, India. He was also trained in various hospitals in southeast London and northeast England. He completed his master’s degrees in orthopaedics, from the Teesside University, UK and Madras Medical College, India. He is also a member & fellow of Royal College of Surgeons. His master’s degree on Evidence Based Medicine in Orthopaedics, fine-tuned his clinical approach to patients to provide with best available and up-to-date evidence-based cutting-edge care. He has extensive experience in managing upperlimb conditions and knows when surgical management will be successful. He recommends non-surgical management where possible and would not do surgery unless absolutely necessary.

He regularly lectures both nationally and internationally at leading conferences and training courses and continues to teach the modern orthopaedic techniques to trainees. He is intensely involved in teaching and training the trainees from SE Thames Orthopaedic rotation. He is a faculty member in King’s FRCS intense revision course, Hand surgery FRCS (Orth) revision course and Medway Upper-limb course and is a clinical and educational supervisor for foundation year and specialty training doctors. He is a keen teacher who
teaches orthopaedics to undergraduate students at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical Schools.

He has a brilliant academic career and has published more than 30 articles in peer reviewed indexed journals. He has special interests in upper-limb research and has won several research accolades both at the national and international levels. His research work is cited by numerous authors, journals and orthopedic textbooks. He is a member of the editorial board and is also a reviewer of various international scientific orthopaedic journals.

Biography

Toby is a consultant Orthopaedic and major trauma surgeon, and a specialist shoulder and elbow surgeon. His NHS practice is at Kings College Hospital, one of London?s major trauma centres. He manages the whole spectrum of shoulder problems as well as sports injuries and complex upper limb trauma, and specialises in performing arthroscopic (keyhole), arthroplasty (joint replacement) and trauma surgery. 
Toby studied medicine at Oxford University (St. Edmund Hall) and completed his clinical studies at University College London. He undertook his early surgical training on the Kings College rotation as well working at St. Vincent?s Hospital, Sydney. Following an additional year of research into shoulder surgery and in particular the analysis of outcomes he was appointed onto the London higher Orthopaedic training rotation where he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons. 
Toby has also undertaken two recognised sub-specialist fellowship trainings in shoulder and trauma surgery. The first at the internationally renowned Cape Shoulder Institute in Cape Town and at the University of Stellenbosch, and the second at Kings College Hospital ? a nationally recognised upper limb and major trauma surgery fellowship. Toby has a particular in interest in outcomes, and consequently completed the Value Based Healthcare course at Harvard Business School. Leveraging this knowledge he has helped to re-design a number of NHS services and continues to provide healthcare advisory support to providers and commissioners of healthcare as a subject matter expert particularly in the field of musculoskeletal outcomes and value delivery. 
Toby is active in the world of research and education. He has given over 30 presentations at national and international conferences and has published over 25 papers as well writing book chapters for international shoulder textbooks. He has designed and led several studies into restructuring and delivering Trauma and Orthopaedic services as well as producing shoulder research that led to the award of an MSc in Orthopaedics. He also provides peer review support to internationally recognised journals. He is part of the Kings College Hospital FRCS faculty and provides academic support to the department?s trainees. Toby also actively participates in charity work and is a keen sportsman with a particular interest in rugby and rowing having played at university, regional and national levels. However these days this is from the side-lines rather than on the pitch itself whilst supporting his children!

Biography

 

Mr Sinha holds specialist interests in arthroscopic “keyhole” shoulder and elbow surgery , shoulder replacement, sports injuries and upper limb trauma. His qualifications are B.Sc(Hons) Pharmacology; M.B.Ch.B; FRCS(Ed); FRCS(Eng), FRCS(Orth).

He qualified from the University of Manchester in 1985, and later went on to have Surgical SHO Training at the Hammersmith Hospital and St.Bartholomew's Hospital, London, gaining experience in various forms of Surgery including General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery. Mr. Sinha completed his Orthopaedic training in London, working on the King's College Hospital and South East Thames Orthopaedic rotations. His Fellowships include working in New York and Seattle, USA and the Wrightington Hospital, UK. During this time he gained specialist training in trauma, shoulder, elbow and hand surgery.

Since his appointment as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at King's College Hospital, London, in 1996, Mr. Sinha has worked with his colleagues to develop the Upper Limb Unit, KCH to achieve national and international recognition. Mr. Sinha has also been Clinical Lead for Orthopaedics, KCH; Clinical Lead for the Day Surgery Unit; and is presently Clinical Director for Surgery KCH, and Joint CAG 2 Leader (Trauma, Orthopaedics, Plastics and ENT) for King’s Health Partners (KHP).Mr. Sinha has lectured locally, nationally and internationally on both upper limb trauma and shoulder surgery, especially aspects of arthroscopic “keyhole” surgery and shoulder replacement.
